Here is a lovely, obscure and soon-to-be-newsworthy picture from the second decade of the last century.
An essay in shape and negative line.
Simultaneously a formal celebration of costume, and a sly, dark joke about then-emergent consumerism.
Stay tuned for why this picture will be newsworthy...
I last posted at the end of June. Spent July and August in Paris, France, which is a subject (or six) for another day. September and the better part of October have been spent getting caught up in St. Louis. This is just to signal that I have not closed down this blog, and that more will be coming soon.
Image: D.B. Dowd, Our Evolving World, pencil in the Field Museum in Chicago, on the Friday after Thanksgiving in 2009 (or 2010?); inked in 2012 (I'll double-check the family calendar and get back to you.) Looking forward to catching up!
